Dangerous Territory

After a lengthy conversation a few weeks ago with a die hard right wing doctor here at work I find myself very worried about our current state of affairs as Citizens of America and what this great country stands for. I consider myself a political enigma...quickly my views in a nutshell:
I Am:
- Pro Choice
- Economically Conservative and for lower taxes and small government
- Very Liberal for Civil Liberties, they are a staple of our socio-politcal fabric
- Against Strike First Unilateral Foreign Policy under the Name of Security
- Against the Welfare State, but feel the need for government incentive to better oneself.
- A Believer that there is more to 9-11 than meets the eye
So I kinda fall into a fiscal Republican and conservative democrat paradigm...so in other words I am confused! Lol!

But I digress, the crux of our conversation a few weeks ago regarded Iran and the use of Military force in this area in the name of Security. Invading Iran, or even speaking of military force is absolute ignorance given our current political disposition worldwide symbiotic to our security and Intel plunders in the name of the war on terror. It frightened me me in the fact that most of the upper class citizenry here in the states feel that war is the only answer. We are on a path of destruction worldwide, in the name of security. It will destroy us in time.

Note what's going on: Pakistan, our "ally in democracy" is under martial law and has a leader who obtained his power in a miltary coup in 1999. Our economy on the face is good, while the truth is that our home markets are terribly unstable, our stock markets remain unstable at best all the while we run a huge deficit and are paying for a war declared and being fought in futility. We are codifying the rape of our constitution and are setting ourselves up for a police state and we don't even know it. And the entire time I try to discuss this, this nice older doctor, whom has no military experience thinks that the "war" is the answer....this I feel is the consensus amog this group of academic elitists'...we are in dangerous territory indeed.
